The meeting was co-organized by the Directorate of Forest Protection of the General Directorate of Forests and Forest Environment and the Directorate of Climate Change and Atmospheric Quality of the General Directorate of Environmental Policy of the Ministry of Environment and took place online on January 25, 2021. The Directorate of Forest Protection is a partner of the LIFE GrIn project, while the Directorate of Climate Change and Atmospheric Quality coordinates the LIFE-IP AdaptInGR project. Τhe LIFE-IP AdaptInGR project aims to contribute to the implementation of the National Strategy for Climate Change Adaptation through, among others, pilot urban regeneration. The aim of the meeting was to examine if the synergies of the two projects could promote urban greenery as a “tool” for urban adaptation to climate change, in accordance with the priorities of the National Strategy for Adaptation to Climate Change.
During the conference, the objectives and actions of the LIFE GrIn and LIFE-IP AdaptInGR projects were demonstrated, while the synergies between them were identified and the possibilities of future cooperation were discussed. The conference was not open to the general public. Partners’ representatives of both projects attended, as well as the representative of NEEMO, which monitors the two projects on behalf of the European Organization for Small and Medium Enterprises (EASME) of the European Commission.
